As of December 26, 2014, HHS reported that 6.5 million consumers have obtained health insurance coverage from HealthCare.gov, bringing the total number of enrollees in federal and state exchanges to over 7 million. Of the enrollees, over 4 million people in both federal and state exchanges were newly registered.

According to a Medicare report, 87% of people who selected health insurance plans through HealthCare.gov starting January 1 were eligible for financial assistance to lower their monthly premiums. Further, 33% of the enrollees were under 35 years of age.
